About UIC Jane Addams School of Social Work MSW

Previous Entry UIC Jane Addams School of Social Work MSW May. 9th, 2012 @ 10:02 am
I know this was the last post made-- but it was ages ago.

I, too, am looking into Jane Addams for my MSW. I would be moving from Tulsa, Oklahoma so this is a huge life transition ontop of choosing a school/program. First question-- how difficult is it to get accepted into this program, UIC in general?

Has anyone else gotten their MSW from Jane Addams? How was your experience?

Thank you!

I received my MSW from Jane Addams last May. From the meeting my friend and I had with one of the program admissions people, they admit about a third of the people that apply. I believe this number was 200 each year. That is combined number across both first year and advance standing and across all the concentrations too.

The one thing that he did tell us that was very helpful was that the sooner you apply, the more likely you are to get in. They're application process opened I believe on October 1 and I had sent mine in by the third week of October. I didn't find out until some time in February that I'd been accepted. A friend of mine just applied in January and just received her acceptance today. The school social work program is pretty competitive from what I gather. That wasn't my concentration so I can't speak much to it though. If you're not applying as advanced standing, you don't have to worry about a concentration yet though.

Anything else you'd like to know? I'll try to be of much help as I can be.
